GLOBE VALVE

GLOBE VALVE

Globe valves are used to stop, start, and regulate fluid flow. The globe valve disc can be totally removed from the flow path or it can completely close the flow-path. When compared to gate valves, globe valves generally yield much less seat leakage. This is because the disc-to-seat ring contact is more at right angles, which permits the force of closing to tightly seat the disc. Globe valves are conventionally used for isolation and throttling services. There are two common types of globe valves: angle body globe valves and stop check globe valves. Simple modifications to the design has a huge impact on the functionality and purpose of the valve. The angle body globe valve design is a simple modification of the basic globe valve. Having ends at right angles, fluid is able to flow through with only a single 90° turn and discharge downward more symmetrically than the discharge from an ordinary globe. A stop check valve is a combination of a lift check valve and a globe valve. It has a stem which, when closed, prevents the disc from coming off the seat and provides a tight seal.
